OMRON BX35F / BX50F / BX50FW / BX75SW discontinued – battery & replacement guide
OMRON has discontinued the slim BX series UPS. Replacement batteries are still in production, and the BY-W series is the direct successor (same battery packs, same slim form factor, 100–120V selectable, NEMA 5-15P plug, UL1778).
| Discontinued model | Replacement battery (still available) | Recommended current model |
|---|---|---|
| BX35F | BXB50F | BY50FW |
| BX50F | BXB50F | BY50FW |
| BX50FW | BXB50F | BY50FW |
| BX75SW | BXB75S | BY75SW |
Should I replace the battery or the whole UPS?
- If the UPS is under about 8 years old and works normally on mains power, a new BXB50F or BXB75S battery restores backup time (expected life 4–5 years at 20°C).
- If the UPS shows faults other than a battery alarm, or is older than 8–10 years, move to the BY50FW / BY75SW. Your spare BXB batteries remain usable in the new unit.
- Overseas use: BY50FW / BY75SW can be set to 110/115/120V. They are not for 220–240V mains without a step-down transformer.
